Professional Material Weight and Price Calculator
How to accurately calculate material?
Our free online metal calculator allows engineers, welders, and designers to quickly and accurately calculate the weight and price for various profiles. Whether you need the weight of a steel pipe, the price of stainless steel sheet, or the volume of an aluminum profile, our tool offers instant results with a cutting optimization option.
When planning a project, accurate mass calculation is key for transport, statics, and budgeting. Our system uses standard volume formulas combined with specific material densities (kg/dm³).
Weight Calculation Formula:
Weight (kg) = Volume (dm³) × Specific Density (kg/dm³)
Volume is obtained by multiplying the cross-sectional area of the profile by its length. Our calculator automatically considers the profile shape (square, round, L, U, I, H) and internal hollows in pipes.
Material Specific Density Table
| Material | Density (kg/dm³) | Main Characteristics |
|---|---|---|
| Steel (S235, S355) | 7.85 - 8.0 | Standard structural steel, high strength. |
| Stainless Steel (AISI 304, 316) | 7.93 | Inox, corrosion-resistant, high gloss. |
| Aluminum | 2.70 | Lightweight, easy to process, excellent conductivity. |
| Copper | 8.96 | Exceptional thermal characteristics. |
| Brass | 8.55 | Decorative metals, good machinability. |
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How is steel pipe weight calculated?
The weight of a pipe is calculated by subtracting the volume of the inner empty space from the volume of the outer profile. Our calculator does this automatically based on the wall thickness you enter.
Can I calculate the price for a whole project?
Yes, the "Add to List" option allows you to collect all items. After that, you can use the "Optimize" option to see how many 6-meter bars you need.
Why is the weight on the scale different from the calculator?
Calculators use theoretical density. In practice, materials have tolerances in wall thickness or alloy composition, which can lead to a deviation of 1-3%.
What specification formats do you support?
You can directly print your specification as a PDF or send it to us via WhatsApp/Viber for an official quote.
